This striking arrangement lives in one of the rooms in which I teach. This photograph does not do it justice

A row of Stockholm lions for Eva

Mollie on the balcony and Catrick in the living room

I really liked this jumper at a local sample sale. It was very pretty and so soft. I don’t often wear pullovers, because the temperature changes so much for me every day – in public transport, outside, in the different meeting rooms. I end up taking off and putting on layers several times a day, and cardigans are much more practical than something I have to pull over my head, leaving my hair, necklaces and glasses in disarray and snagging on my earrings. I sometimes wear a pullover on weekends, though not often.

Those lions, seriously! <3
you teach in a school: you never told us that ; that arrangement is saying something like, spread your wings 🙂
That gorgeous arrangement is actually in a workplace. I teach in one of the large meeting rooms of this organisation and it is very nicely decorated. I do also sometimes teach in schools as a mother-tongue pedagogue. In Sweden if your parents’ mother tongue is not Swedish, you are entitled to a certain number of hours of mother-tongue tuition in school. I have even taught Afrikaans!
thanks Janet. I feel better once I know a little of a person’s background. I taught for over thirty years in Secondary schools in Adelaide, mainly History, English and Latin. I like your Swedish system of teaching the mother tongue.
Hello from one teacher to another!
I started teaching English at primary school during my degree, and graduated with a degree in Journalism and English in South Africa. I started teaching computer skills at a university, then moved to teaching Computer Aided Research and Reporting to journalism students. After that I taught the same course (part-time) at Stockholm university while simultaneously English to adults (I qualified as a teacher of adults in Dublin), which I have done for 26 years. I also do mother tongue instruction for children between the ages of 10 and 16. I used to work quite extensively as a Swedish – English translator, but that is almost all done by AI now. I do believe teaching is a calling and that the human element is still vital in education, so I hope AI does not obliterate teachers altogether.
well, that is fascinating: thank you; you certainly have the background to produce those ‘classical memes’ which you excel at and I delight in; thank you 🙂
Alas, I merely steal them 🙂
really? well, that is an art in itself : well, at least you know where to find those golden nuggets — and share them with your followers ; thank you 🙂
