A dear friend, Athelé, came to Stockholm again this summer. She loved the area near our apartment so much that she made a special trip to visit it again.
Stockholm has many municipal allotment gardens where people from the city can grow flowers and vegetables. Most of them have tiny little houses on the property, some of which can be lived in over the summer. Not ours though, so the little houses are set up as places to have meals and rest when you spend the day gardening.
Ath took these gorgeous photographs. Her brother, Ken, was one of South Africa’s top news photographers, and Ath shares that talent and a great eye.
Next to the allotment gardens is a small-boat harbour
We stopped to watch the bridge open to let two tall yachts pass from the Baltic Sea through the lock into Lake Mälaren
