A day

In the Stockholm Old Town you can see the days are getting shorter now. These buildings are very close together and rather tall so the shadows grow longer very quickly.

Gamla Stan has a main tourist street – which I really don’t like – but the small side streets are deserted and quiet. I love nipping into the quiet and sitting on a bench sometimes if I have time.

I thought this was pretty. I think it is a coal chute

A mouse-sized tattoo parlour. Stockholm also has a mouse-sized record shop.

Riddarholmstorget (The Knights’ Islet square) in Stockholm. These cobbles are brutal to walk on. In winter they are treacherous. I teach at the Stockholm Court of Appeal which is on the square, as is the old Parliament building.

Not a very good photograph but I have always liked Riddarholms Church because of its cast iron spire. Several Swedish monarchs are buried here.

I thought this window display was rather ‘sweet’. I am not a fan of macarons. I think they look lovely but they don’t taste like much. I do love cupcakes though. More on macarons soon!

  1. I find these empty streets and squares of Gama Stan absolutely scary. I remember wandering in those places a few years ago and they were busier.
