This book has been recommended to me several times, as has the whole trilogy (The Bronze Horseman, Alexander and Tatiana and The Summer Garden). Apparently once you get over the initial ‘hump’ (oh I hate those), it is captivating. For me though, it seems as though it would be too heavy.
One of my major subjects at university was English literature, specialising in epic poems such as The Faerie Queene by Edmund Spenser, and the books of Thomas Hardy. For four years I read heavy books. I just can’t anymore. I don’t know if it is my age or if it’s that I teach all day, but I need something easier to read for the evenings and weekends. I would be interested if any of my readers have read this and their thoughts.

I also have these on the go. Two are Scandi crime thrillers and the Atlantis book is the second of a trilogy. I have not read any of these authors before. I will be starting with Strange Shores, which is set in Iceland. I have never read a book set in Iceland before.
