Pram ramps

I wrote recently about how pram ramps are often erroneously depicted as an example of terrible design for wheelchair users, and that they are actually pram ramps. The article is here.

I promised to send a photograph of one of these ramps being used. This is at our local underground station. You can also use them for shopping trolleys if the wheels fit.

I don’t think American speakers of English use the word pram. Is it perhaps stroller? Pram is short for perambulator. One of my students worked with EU legislation on strangulation by perambulator rattles. I used to feel sorry for him having to say that tongue twister in a second language!
