You often see photos of these ramps as examples of bad design, or dangerous wheelchair ramps.
As much as I hate bad design, this isn’t it. These are not for wheelchairs but for baby prams and strollers. Sweden is a country of working mothers and parent-friendly spaces. People travel with prams on the underground and in shopping spaces and this is a way of manoeuvring that does not require elevators. You walk up and down the narrow steps while holding your pram.
I wouldn’t trust these ramps with a pram or a wheelchair. They are far to steep and at an awkward angle to the pavement. I’d like to see photos of people actually using them.
