Google Lens and other fine things

I do grumble about the bots, scammers and trolls all over the internet, but there are things I think are amazing. Shazam has saved me many hours of trying to think what song I have just heard. Google translate has helped me immediately translate signs in Finnish.

One Google feature I use often is Google Images/Google Lens. If I see a pretty bag on a television show, I can take a photograph of it and find the model and make. I can find who designed a piece of jewellery I found in a charity shop. I used it not so long ago to find the model name of a pair of motorcycle boots I liked.

I have this silver necklace, but did not know who made it. A Google image search showed me it was made by Danish designer Flora Danica

I found these silver spoons on a shelf in a recycling container and was wondering where they were from. A photo of the hallmark brought this information up. Once I had the details, I could easily verify the information.

There is also a subreddit called Tip of my tongue, who can put you out of your agony with things like this

And groups or subreddits called What is this thing? can help find dress patterns, replace beloved shoes, and do things like this
