I love independent bookstores, particularly The English Bookshop in Stockholm because they sell only English books. Swedes are big readers and Stockholm is a capital city, so there are numerous independent book and magazine shops that sell niche books, cult books, antique books. and imported books. The Catch-22 is that, at the rate I read (3 – 4 books a week), I cannot afford their prices. I want so badly to support them but I can only buy books from them every couple of months because of the cost. I generally buy secondhand online or in charity shops for about $1 per book. If I were to pay $28 to $48 per book, I would not be able to read much. I would love to work here and smell and see books all day!
