The Beatles’ original dummer, Pete Best, released this studio album in 1966. It was called Best of the Beatles, and led to him being investigated for consumer fraud because it contained no Beatles music. Instead, it featured music by The Pete Best Combo. Many people bought it, believing it to be a Beatles album.
The case went to court but was dropped because it was not fraud. He was indeed Best, of the Beatles.
It reminds me of the book Eats, shoots & leaves by LynneTruss. Have you read it? It is brilliant!
I absolutely love that book!
Although you’d think, if you were purchasing a “Best of” album, that at least some of the tracks listed right there on the front cover would be ones you associated with the band you were a die-hard fan of….
People never cease to amaze me…
