My mom used to bake cakes for my school cake sales. She was a very good cook so people used to pounce on her cakes and cookies. Once, I forgot to tell her about a cake sale so she had to do something in a hurry in the middle of the night and the cake completely collapsed in the middle. She had no time to make a new one so she stuffed the middle FULL of toilet paper, iced it and told me to get to the front of the line at the sale and buy it before anyone else could.
Naturally I got distracted doing something and as I ran to the table a few minutes late, I saw the town snob triumphantly bearing the cake with my mom’s name on it, announcing as she went that she was going to serve it at a fancy tea.
My mother was furious with me – more furious than when I told everybody she used her scalp massager to make the little holes in the top of her shortbread….
If you do a search for the term Nailed it! you find the most hilarious fails of all kinds. From cooking to beauty – disasters occur when people try to recreate the beautiful creations seen in magazines, on packaging and on the internet. Some nice sites for these fails are Pinterest, Diply and Buzzfeed but you can find them on a simple Google search. Here are some of my favourites!

I love the ones where people forget that dough, even cookie dough, rises!
Hilarious! Loved that photoshopped fat horse! (ehm, it WAS photoshopped, right?)
So glad you’re back, Janet. 😀
Those minion cakes remind me of a similar situation where I “nailed it” … NOT. I had a fine idea to bake and decorate a small cake resembling a device my husband was working with in honor of the contractor/manufacturer of the device coming to his office. It was a semi-big deal, that visit. The cake ended up looking like the disaster you might imagine, but I’m told it tasted good. Yes, my husband insisted on bringing the cake to work anyway. ::cringe::
What a husband! And kudos for your efforts 🙂
I was so embarrassed by that cake that I nearly dropped it intentionally on the floor so I could say, “What cake??!” But I didn’t. 🙂
