The 330km-long Mälaren runt motorbike rally takes place on the third Saturday in August each year. I look forward to it every year because over 21 000 motorcycles take part, and some riders really get into the spirit of things.
This year was the 40th time the ride had taken place and the weather was beautiful, so there were way more bikes than normal. I have heard between 25 000 and 30 000 motorcycles took part, though nothing has been confirmed yet.
Daniel Brace of Braceiller Productions, always takes the most spectacular photographs, and generously allows me to use them in my blog. Some photographers have an eye for moving objects, and Daniel is one of them. I usually get a nice hug from him as we stop, and this year he spoke to me in perfect Afrikaans!

The animals that take part have grown up riding and are at many of the shows we attend. The doggo in the blue trailer loves people. I have forgotten her name (I was formally introduced a few years ago!) but she always likes it when people come up to talk to her, and she enjoys being petted. The two dogs in the side car are always as good as gold.
These pictures are wonderful! What a lovely summer you’ve had! By the way, I was in a town in the middle of Germany called Willingen. It’s popular over the weekends as a party town. We were there for a chess event, of all things!… While I was there, I saw that there was an announcement for a Harley Davidson convention and I thought of you.
