I upgraded from an iPhone 7 to an iPhone 11 six years ago. I had no plans of upgrading the 11 anytime soon but my battery was badly degraded, the glass on the back was cracked, and there would have been no iOS updates for it after 2027. I had been looking for a reconditioned 13 or 15 (I have a huge dental bill incoming), but my husband surprised me with an early birthday present – an iPhone 17 5G 256GB in black.
I have changed over from my 11 to 17, but have been too busy updating passwords and electronic ID to see the new features. One thing I have noticed is the lovely camera. I take so many photos for my blog using my camera phone that it is BRILLIANT to have such a nice camera. Having reached a milestone birthday this year I wonder if this will be the last phone I ever own? Hope not!
I bought a decent-ish cover and stand for our trip but I will be looking out for a more protective one in time. My most rugged cover so far was a UAG one and I am thinking of buying another.

That’s a good advert for Apple; 6 years for a handset. I’ve a Sony Xperia that I’ve had about the same length of time; your post has reminded me I should check how long updates will ge supported!
I would have been happy to replace the battery keep using it until it was not supported anymore if it were not for the cracks in the back. But having a lovely new one is amazing, particularly the snazzy camera!
Lucky You!
I know, right? I love it!
