I am 5ft 7inches with thin legs, a flat bottom and a bit of a tummy. I have broad shoulders and big boobs but no hips. I vary between UK size 32 and 34 and have long legs so many jeans are too short for me.
For the past 8 years or so I have been wearing jeans in black, grey or blue in the following shape/style – they have skinny legs (wide legged jeans look ridiculous on me) and a ‘disguised’ high waist. So you can wear them as hipsters if you have a long top, or as high waists if you have a short top. They also keep your tummy under control.
For work I wear pitch black ones if I need to be formal, grey if it is in-between and the blue ones for informal workplaces. I also like my jeans to be of thick denim rather than thin.
I tend to buy different brands – at the moment I am wearing Blue Area, Arizona and Happy Holly. I never pay more than £20 for these because as soon as they start to fade I cannot wear them for work anymore and I wash jeans after each wear (crazy I know but I am like that about all clothes).
For off duty I usually wear Joie So Real, Hudson Faith or True Religion Joey jeans. Trousers with big flap back pockets give the illusion that I have a bum!

I hate when my black jeans fade, so every now and then I buy a pack of black fabric washing machine dye and put a few pairs in to refresh the colour. I wish I could get away with skinny jeans, but my (generous) bum and thighs wouldn’t look great!
I’m laughing because the last time I tried on a pair of skinny leg jeans, it looked like 2 chicken drumsticks with my body plopped on top. The hip/bum/waist ratio, makes jean shopping an ordeal. Add to that, I hate paying more than $20.
Congratulations on finding what works for you.
You gave me a good laugh! I hate clothes shopping – when I find something I like I buy multiples!
