Why do people say I could care less when they mean they don’t care at all? Saying I could care less LITERALLY says you care! Is this an example of an incorrect saying entering common usage and thus being ‘correct’?
I have always used the phrase “I couldn’t care less” but it seems our American cousins use the wrong phrase (“I could care less”) but they also use double negatives in English (I was taught that these make a positive).
Along with ‘ the least I could do’!
