Autumn is on the way

The weather has been generally lovely the past two weeks, but you can definitely feel that autumn is in the air in Stockholm.  It is darker in the evenings, the clothing on sale in the shops is in autumn shades and cosy styles – burgundy, brown, beige, deep greens. Pumpkin, spice and cinnamon drinks are appearing everywhere. A bit early if you ask me, but I had to wear a jumper/jersey/sweater today (above).

I do enjoy nature’s autumn colours, the high sky and the crisp, clear air, but the approaching winter darkness always fills me with dread. I don’t mind the cold or the snow, but the constant darkness from November to February really affects me. Luckily though, in three months I will have a sunny break.

  1. It is still 35°c here in Paris which makes a huge difference after 3 months between 38° and 42°c. We are not expecting a dop of the temperature anytime soon so we are still wearing our summer clothes.

  2. We are still in the warmth of an Indian summer but it isn’t as warm as it has been. I couldn’t survive in a land without some hours of daylight during the winter so I get you, Janet. Enjoy your time in the African sun when you go and don’t forget to take some of it home to Stockholm when you get back.
