Skottvångs gruva is a historic iron ore mine located in the Sörmland region of Sweden. The mine was active from the 17th century until its final closure in 1921, with mining having reached a depth of 245 meters. They also produced wood charcoal.
The mine is now a historic and cultural centre with a museum, café, craft shop and summer events. You can see part of the mine shaft and deep holes dug by miners hundreds of years ago. There were about 15 mining families who lived on small subsistence farms nearby. Boys started to work in the mine at very young age.
