I left my Louis Vuitton epi leather agenda in for popper repair on August 5th. I was told it could take up to 20 weeks, but it arrived at the Louis Vuitton store yesterday. I was hesitant about spending $60 to have it repaired because it is 18 years old and I bought it second-hand for double that. Ultimately though, I could not use it as it was, and no cobbler I spoke to was able repair it without taking the seams apart or punching a hole in it.
I am really happy I did indeed sent it to Louis Vuitton for repair. It was sent to France, repaired with a new LV popper and the correct thread (a discontinued colour from 2008). You cannot see where they restitched it, and it was returned with a new dustbag. For a planner that is 18 years old and has had plenty of use, the leather is still in pretty good condition. The problem with the popper was that the bottom little ‘bar’ had dropped into the bottom of the popper so it did not close securely. The binder kept coming open in my bag and the pages were being damaged by the contents of my handbag.
I am using and loving my Van Der Spek colorblock planner at the moment, but I will take the LV planner to South Africa with me in December because it is more compact and the leather can take a bashing.
