Shadows

The Swedish word for shade and shadow is the same, meaning that one thing I often have to teach is the difference between the two in English.

This National Geographic photograph by Beverley Joubert is stunning. It took me a couple of seconds to see which part was the shadow.

The shadow of our dearly departed Ziggy makes him look like a giant male rat

This shadow has a camera obscura effect and is more of a projection

And these just made me smile

  1. I love the first pic where you think the shadows of the zebra are actually horses. Reminded me of the old saying “When you hear hooves don’t think of zebra unless you’re in Africa!”
