Glasses frames

I have been wearing prescription glasses since I was about 50 years old. Many of my family and friends wear light rimless frames – the ones that look almost as if you are not wearing glasses at all.

I never wanted to go that way. I love big frames. I have had several over the years. I don’t mind people knowing I wear glasses. I see them as a wonderful accessory. Long gone are the days of ‘boys don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses.’

I really like frames by Swedish designer Efva Attling.

She does new ranges every year, and I have my eyes on these from 2023

And I am also loving the glasses frames from And Just Like That, Season 2. They are large and in charge.

I have my eyes checked for new glasses every 18 months or so (I should go more often but it costs so much).Part of me is always excited for new frames but the other part hates trying to make a choice. I usually go in a week or so before the appointment to browse without any pressure.

  1. I have had to wear glasses since I was 6 (for 40 years now!!!) and I went through lots of different styles, including the “invisible” ones you mentioned. Many years ago, I had read an interview of Elton John who was talking about his glasses and how he would buy the most outrageous glasses because it was part of him and this resonated a lot with me. Right now, I have cat eye glasses as my regular glasses and bright red glasses as my computer glasses. I really love some of the styles you showed. I’m a bit less keen on the more square ones, mainly because I have a square face, so I like to stick to rounder shapes. I also had Harry Potter glasses before I knew who Harry Potter was. For me, they were my John Lennon glasses!
