We went to a classic car show this past weekend. I love cars from the 1950s, while my husband enjoys muscle cars from the 1970s. What was really noticeable this year was that car models I grew up with (and even drove on a daily basis) are now seen as really really old…
Classic cars are at least 20 years old but not older than 45 years, while vintage cars are 25 years or older. Antique cars are even older, at least 45 years old.
Cars I grew up with and saw this weekend:
- VW Passat
- Ford Escort
- Ford Anglia
- Austin Mini 850/Mini Minor (it left before I could take photos and have a closer look)
- Ford Ranchero
- Ford Capri
- Ford Fairlane
- Ford Fairmont
I had a smile at all the ashtrays, car radios (even an 8-track stereo) and window winders! And of course not very fond memories of having no power steering and having to double declutch in cars with non-synchromeshed gearboxes!
I loved my ’64 & ’72 Beetles. Nothing stopped them.
Wow, these vehicles’ bodies are so well preserved. I wish I could have said the same of my body! ;-p
I know, right?
