One thing that South Africa does really well is hair products for coarse, curly, dry, thick hair. Nordic hair tends to be straight and fine, so volumisers and lightweight products are the order of the day. In Africa there is more space on the shelves for curly, frizzy, mixed race and Afro-Caribbean hair than for straight, fine hair. These products work, and are often made from local ingredients. No one gatekeeps who can use them. Everyone standing in front of the shelf gives advice and recommendations to others around them with similar hair, no matter who they are.
These are the ones I treasure.
Everyone who uses a product (whatever the product) is in the best place to advise others on the suitability for them based on appearance.
