Remember when?

I think popular colours were baby blue, dusty pink, avocado, and peach. Even the toilet paper, soap, and towels matched the colour scheme. There was usually a shagpile bathroom mat in the same colour. And sometimes the toilet paper was perfumed…

Around the bathroom you would have had Fenjal soaps and bath oil, Radox bubble bath, Cusson’s My Fair Lady Talc, Brylcreem, Vitalis, Old Spice, and Goya Aqua Manda. You could also perhaps find some Miners Roll O’ Gloss, cake mascara, or Tramp and Charlie perfume. Maybe a couple of Jackie or Life magazines next to the toilet.

The sanitary towels would come with elastic belts, the razors were metal ones into which you screwed safety blades, there were no hair products apart from Brylcreem and hair spray. The medicine cabinet may have held some permanganate of potash, gentian violet or mercurochrome.
