So many successful people I have taught in adulthood did not do well within a traditional educational system. They may have been seen as disruptive, lazy, naughty, or troublemakers. They have often been diagnosed later in life with ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and learning difficulties. But after school they have thrived – many in their own companies, others with managers who give them the support and structure they need to thrive.
I firmly agree that teaching, like nursing, is a calling. Many people can do it, but not everyone is good at it. Teaching is not like pouring water (knowledge) into a glass (the student).
