When I was teaching I was a stickler for correct spelling. I even had a framing on the wall saying “Spelling Counts”. I used to tell my students that no matter where they end up in life, be it a high ranking manager who no one will will notice your spelling until you get something wrong, or the office porter who has to leave a note for their boss, a lot of people do notice misspellings. And when you get it right no one will say you’re a great speller; get it wrong and they’ll probably snicker and think “What a dummy” Who needs that?
