….to me is not attractive. Maybe that is because I have one. I hate the way I sound in telephone messages, on videos – you name it. My accent is not that strong given that I am English speaking and have lived out of the country for a long time. But I still dislike it. Is it normal for someone to dislike their own accent?
As an accent it is extremely difficult for actors to reproduce. The best I have heard is Matt Damon in Invictus. His was good. Leonardo Dicaprio’s in Blood Diamond was not bad. But the rest of them are ghastly – Taylor Kitsch in The Bang Bang Club, the baddies in Lethal Weapon 2, Val Kilmer in The Saint. It is not known as the Waterloo of accents for actors. It usually ends up sounding Australian or British or something in between.
So I found these clips hysterically funny. They have put South African accents into films like Top Gun, Braveheart and Wolf of Wall Street.
