ReTuna is a shopping mall in Sweden’s Eskilstuna, which has your regular mall shops – florist, jewellery, homeware, fashion, books, toys, bicycles. The only difference is that everything is second hand. It could have been redesigned into something else, or repaired and repainted, but it is second hand. This is the first recycling mall in the world. There is even an IKEA!
I found some really nice items, though I stuck to three.
These alabaster or marble pineapples are gorgeous. I come from pineapple country in South Africa and have always enjoyed pineapples and lemons in home decor. Maybe it’s the shot of colour.

I also found these little Wade porcelain figurines. My family in South Africa has collected them ever since Wade Whimsies came inside Red Roses tea decades ago. Sweden has some more unusual ones so every time I travel to South Africa I take a little box of them for my family and they share them out among themselves.

What a great place. And my mum collects Wade Whimsey too.
Does she? That is amazing! My sister has a reference book with every single piece ever made, so I always try to find her something special that she has never seen before.
What a great idea, I think it may not be long before it spreads to other countries because of Ikea. Thank you for sharing this, Janet.
