I found Exiles at a charity shop. I did not recognise the author, but the story looked interesting so I bought it for 50c. I really enjoyed it so decided to read the previous two books in the Aaron Falk series, The Dry and Force of Nature. I thoroughly enjoyed them. It was only at that point that I realised that they were The Dry and The Dry 2 movies from Netflix. I have not watched them, but they are rather popular.
I still have not watched the movies but I can thoroughly recommend the books. You don’t need to read them in order. There are some small references that could be out of order but you barely notice them. The suspense is perfect and the weather and landscape are strong characters in the books. Because Australia and parts of South Africa are similar in many ways regarding weather and terrain, the books resonated particularly strongly with me.
I also loved The Lost Man and will now be starting Survivors.
I have not read the books but have seen ‘The Dry’, an Aussie movie, at the cinema and thoroughly recommend it —
