I would not have thought anything was amiss with this ad.
Someone explained to me though, that if these pants kept you warm by retaining heat, they would register cooler on thermal imaging, not hotter. Heat being expelled is what the thermal reads. Heat being retained would show to the outside as cold because the heat is being kept inside.
