Cleaning bronze or brass jewellery

I have some bronze pendants which have dulled over time.

I popped them into some ketchup for about ten minutes, and voila! The acid in tomatoes reacts with the oxidisation/tarnish. I have heard it works for silver as well but I have never tried it.
