What on earth were people thinking? We are in the middle of a pandemic with one of the highest infection and death rates in the world, under recommendations to not go out. Our infection rate is rocketing. Online shopping exists.
My daughter has COVID-19, her fiancé has suspected COVID-19 and so does my best friend. My daughter works as a social worker in a very vulnerable area, her husband drives trains, my best friend works at the police. They all work in essential services. But people like this have jeopardised their health so they can buy a bargain which is probably not a bargain at all. What is wrong with people?
I am so sorry this happened, Janet. I don’t know what it is like in your world. I live in New Zealand, so quite a different response to the Covid. My husband works on our commuter trains but I don’t have to worry much. My heart goes out to you and your family. take care ♥️
We have been living a second lockdown for six weeks and this time we don’t see people doing silly things as they did last summer after the first lockdown. Masks have been compulsory since 14th March and we need a document to be alowed out for a maximum of an hour. There are many controls and I guess the €135 fine is a good way to deter people from misbehaving. However the government has announced that on the 24th and 25th December and 31st December and 1st January we will be allowed out for longer periods of time. I am already dreading new clusters as many people will organize family gatherings though we are not allowed to.
That Covid pandemic made me realize that people are irresponsible, selfish and think that the Covid will not get to them. I am so disappointed by people sometimes!
What country do you live in? It sounds like your country has been showing better sense than most, at least until the year-end holidays…
I’m an American, where we clearly have zero Federal government plans or interest in controlling this disease, so I’m curious about countries where the upper levels of government actually care!
I live in France, the country where people won’t do as they are told until a law passes and limits their liberty. It’s sad that people don’t show more common sense and need legal actions to be more responsible. And that is even more obvious where I live (in Paris) as people are always willing to disobey.
The problem is entitlement. I don’t have to comply because I don’t want to. It’s inconvenient for me. We have the same problem in the Netherlands.
Here the problem is compounded by the crazy people who think that Covid is a hoax and are determined to sabotage the government. A testing station was demolished with firework/explosives by conspiracy theorists. For me it underlines the need for good education..
I mean, people think they don’t have to comply because they don’t want to. I myself do comply with regulations!

I outside Boston, MA, and this entire year has been eye-opening and extremely disappointing. I had no idea other adults were quite THIS childish and selfish.
I am wishing for a quick recovery for your daughter and safety for everyone’s loved ones.
I know, right? Everyone does need to go out and do essential things. But go out and do things at a distance when there is no total crush. And don’t go crazy over things that are non-essential when you can get them online.
