The picture above is usually the first one people see when they search for Boerboels, or big Boerboels. There are memes about it and rumours that it is photoshopped. It is not manipulated in any way, but the angle makes him look bigger than he is, though there is no denying the fact that he is enormous. His name is Ultra Grigory (often incorrectly spelled Ultra Gregory), born in 2001, and bred by Brink Botha. He has since passed away but this photograph will live on. Find him here.
You can see him here being judged from 15.59 into the video. You will see that he is hefty and solid but not as humongous as the photograph would suggest. If you carry on watching you can see that he took first prize for males 9 – 12 months, and get a closer look at him. Beautiful dog!
