Swedes celebrate holidays and festivals on the eve of the holiday. I believe this happens in other countries as well, although I grew up with celebrations on the day. So most of my family and friends celebrate Christmas on the 25th
If we are not having Christmas with Swedish family, we tend to have a low-key day.
I gave my husband a new bathrobe and scarf for Christmas. He gave me my two new sets of prescription glasses (one prescription readers and one pair of varifocals with photochromic lenses so I do not need sunglasses), which were very expensive. He also gave me a giant multipack of triple-ply embossed toilet paper, and I was thrilled. I grew up with scratchy single-ply and frequent toilet paper shortages, so I love the good versions. I also hoard toilet paper, which proved very convenient during Covid.
Mollie and Harley cats received Yeoowww catnip toys, and Catrick got a fishing-rod type toy. Catrick has loved dragging these rods around the house since he was a kitten. They also received a luxurious fish breakfast.
Yeowww toys are not the cheapest but they last for years and the cats love them. I end up tossing the old ones, not because they have lost their catnippy goodness for the cats, but because they become so bedraggled I cannot stand to look at them anymore.
