A day

My sister sent this photograph of the beach upon which we spent our days when we were children on holiday. This kind of beach stays in your soul forever.

This dog bowl made me smile

I saw this in a thrift shop. Some kiddo is going to love it!

This wall in Gamla Stan in Stockholm caught my eye. This wouldn’t be original, but it is very cool

This was one of my smiles today. I find that small ‘glimmers’ of joy are so important in these tough times.

I went to buy socks in this store yesterday. I normally wear black ankle socks which last for years but I wanted something less practical and more pastel for spring. The shop had a barista cart where you could order your fancy coffee, a dj and candy. Plus 25%. Another small joy in a volatile world.

I can’t remember if I have posted this photo before, but it is all three of our little flowers in their Pet Rebel cat tree. It was pricey, but well worth it. We used to need to replace the trees every year because we bought the cheapest ones, which fell apart after a year of use. We couldn’t find a cheap one with three hammocks, so we bought this one on sale. It shows no wear whatsoever, apart from the little toy, which can be replaced. The trunks are very thick and there are at least two cats lolling in it every single time I look. They each have their favourite place to sleep, and when they are playing they race up and down the trunks.

  1. The carved stone looks to be in an old building, and has fractured edges, in amongst haphazard masonry. Could it be an example of masonry recycling? I live in Reading, and there are bits of the demolished Abbey lurking around the town, most notably in the arched roofing over the enclosed Holy Brook (which runs under the town, and used to serve the Abbey Mill).

  2. I absolutely love all these pictures! The beach is splendid and I can certainly believe that it would stay in your heart forever. The carvings on the wall are gorgeous, the Italian restaurant perfect and the cat tree glorious! Thank YOU for giving us this glimmer of happiness!

  3. Janet, you are right about the little glimmers in the current worldscape. I found more than a few smiles in your pictures, I love the cat tree and your cats always bring a smile to my face. I would love to have some of my own again.
