I hardly ever clean or condition my leather goods. My shoes and boots are kept looking good because I tend to give them a clean and polish using the machine at work. It goes quickly and works really well. Everything else, I leave alone, unless it is very dry or scratched. I prefer to treat my leather by handling it and using it. The oils from my hands always keep things in good shape.
However, sometimes if my leather needs a pick-me-up, I tend to choose Saphir if I can find it. And I use it very sparingly.
- Saphir – Made in France
- An all-purpose shoe and leather care product, Saphir Creme Universelle – Leather Balm is not pigmented, and thus useful for all colors of shoes, boots, accessories, bags, clothing and furniture made of smooth or reptile leathers.
- This Jojoba oil and beeswax formula gently cleans and conditions, while also protecting the leather from future harm.
- First available in France in 1920, this liquid has earned its world-wide reputation for keeping fine leathers supple and glowing.
A friend once wrote a review for me:
It makes the leather look and SMELL divine! I have been using it on my Balenciaga biker jacket, different brands of shoes and bags for at least 5 years, and it has never failed me!
I’ve used it on Mulberry, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Hermès… (yes, I’m also a bag freak). Planners, bags, shoes, pen pouches, jackets, the couch, watch straps, even my saddle… anything leather really! It works like a charm everytime Cleans, makes leather soft and shiny (after a good rub).
And the smell… I would drink the stuff if it wasn’t external use only! lol
Plus it’s cheap: 8 euros for 150 mL. I tried the Hermès one: way more expensive, and less effective
I can’t agree more, Janet! Saphir is and has been an excellent line of products for leather for such a long time. Their glycerine soaps are fantastic as well as their balms, oils and creams. And what I like about it is that it is available everywhere and for such a low price (I’m not alluding to Amazon prices which are so high).
Thanks for the tip: I just ordered two bottles. Let’s hope they don’t freeze!
