One of my most used bags, strangely enough

This one came from South Africa about 12 years ago. It is made from a large dog food bag and has internal and external pockets, shoulder straps, and a top zip. It probably cost me about $1.

It has been incredibly hardy, waterproof, wipes clean and folds up to nothing. I tend to use it when I have extra things to carry or am just going out to do grocery shopping.

Please excuse the furry ‘watermark’ in the background!

Sweden has a well-functioning recycling system, but things like this are not repurposed, they are generally disposed of in the correct receptacle. In South Africa there is less recycling but more repurposing. Plastic bags are crocheted into hats, mats, handbags. Soft drink cans are made into pretty ornaments and toys.
