Artifice Book – LILY

I have written about Artifice Books several times before – Jonathan Vanderholm is the most talented book artist I have ever come across. We are at present working on a custom book design for me – it will be the most beautiful book I have ever owned – themed Elizabethan English with fold-out covers depicting world maps of the time, scented leather and fully coloured Elizabethan knot gardens carved into leather. The man truly is a genius!

Over the next week or so I will be featuring some of his other work. Each one is a one-off and will never be repeated in any form, ever.

First up is LILY

I hand-dyed the cover of this journal a brilliant green. I like leather with color variation to it- it’s more interesting. The frog and his surroundings were carefully rendered in metallic tones of gold and bronze. The edges are hand-sewn with a rich brown thread. Inside, you’ll find a soft brown leather lining.
