The Heartwarming Power of Facebook

Yesterday someone posted on Facebook that their Ocicat had died, leaving her 11-day old  kittens orphaned. She asked if anyone  whose cat had just given birth could adopt one or more until they were big enough to come home again. Within 24 hours her post had been shared more than 11,000 times on Facebook. She was overwhelmed with offers of help. At the moment she is waiting for permission from the relevant authority to allow her to split the kittens and send them to different homes to be fed by cats who have just given birth. People are still offering help. I was so touched.

Update: about half an hour after I posted above paragraph I received a reply from one of the posts I had made about this from the Stockholm Cat’s Home, who were looking for foster kittens for a mother cat who had just lost all but one of her (get this!) 11-day old kittens! The woman with the foster mother lived just down the road from me.
