Filofax personal-sized Ranger organiser in brown

This is one of my favourite designs that Filofax ever made. These came out about 20 years ago, and are really nice and rugged. They remind me a bit of a Kendal but the extra pockets on the cover really add extra functionality without creating an over-bulky binder.

The faux leather on these is thick, solid, hefty (though not noticeably heavy), and the design is fantastic as a travel organiser or a wallet. The front cover has a gusseted and zipped pocket, and the back cover has a great slip pocket. Inside are credit card slots at the front and a notepad holder at the back.

I went through a stage – before I started my blog – where I used this binder intensively for travel. It is so rugged that leather hardly shows any wear.  I rediscovered it during my giant decluttering projects, and fell in love with it all over again!

  1. I even cleaned mine with leather cleaner because I thought it was leather. It such a clever design I wish they did make it in leather.

  2. I believe I have one in pocket size. But like Tim said before me, I think it’s faux-leather. It could be that they made some in real leather. I used it as a wallet for a little while and it was really convenient.

    1. You are correct, it is faux leather. After Tim’s comment I updated my post to clarify. I am very much a leather snob but I love the feel of this pleather/vegan leather/faux leather. I also really like the Metropols.

      1. I’m exactly the same! I can’t afford the leather ones but, to me, they are the real deal… Still in the pictures you posted, it looked like real leather. I also love the Metropols… I have a raspberry pink one in personal size as well as the same one in pocket size. Unfortunately, they don’t age all that well but they are so lovely looking because they are so minimalistic…

  3. It is a great design. The only reason I never bought one is because they were made of plastic “faux leather”, rather than genuine leather. I agree, it looks real!
