A smart little volume, this journal could have come straight out of the Italian Renaissance. The techniques I used in the crafting of this blank book are incredibly old. Most of my books are sewn on linen tapes, but for VENICE I used cords, a much older style. And it looks fantastic. The spine alone is a work of art.
The leather I used for this book I’ve only ever found once. I’ve had to ration it, only using it for rare books. VENICE is one of those. The twining floral design on the cover is one of those rare instances when I sat down with a pencil and paper and the design just sprang out perfectly. (I’m normally a re-worker, refining designs until they are PRECISELY how I want them.) The endpapers within are a ribbed cream that lightens the entire feel.
A beautiful book crafted in the old ways I guess. You are multi talented I guess. Keep the blogs coming, they are only recently discovered by me. Steve (UK). No, not that one! Haha.
