Purple Poppy Day, 23 August

In the city where I grew up in South Africa (then Port Elizabeth, now Gqeberha), there is a horse memorial to honour the more than 300 000 horses who died during the Boer War.  The horses shipped over by the British were unloaded in Port Elizabeth.

This makes me so sad. Why do we awful humans have to bring animals into our stupid wars?

  1. I remember all the fallen in both world wars (the ones called World Wars and the global conflict that was World War 3 but was called the War on Terror). If we forget the holocaust then we may allow it to happen again in Palestine where Israel is the aggressor. Never Again should mean that NO ONE STATE is allowed to attempt to wipe out another state for it’s own purposes, Netanyahu and Putin included.
