This mid-tone neutral taupe cream eyeshadow goes on easily, doesn’t crease, and stays all day! I have one in my makeup bag and one on my dressing table. It was sold out almost everywhere the first time I bought it in around 2022. I only bought it because Clinique had stopped making favourite Chubby Stick in Lots o’ Latte, though you can now find them again. In hindsight, discovering MAC Paint Pots was wonderful because they work better. At the time I was hunting, I was also recommended Bobbie Brown cream eyeshadow, which I may try one day.
What I really like about Groundwork is that it also works as a primer. It does not crease into my lids, and it lasts for ages.
I apply it with a shadow brush but if I am travelling, I can use my fingers. It is foolproof and a perfect colour for me because I am pale and I can’t have anything too dark or heavy. My eyes also water in the winter due to the cold and wind, but this stays put.
It has, of course, been discontinued. Since I have been using beauty products, I have learned the hard way that if I love something I often need to be aware that it will be discontinued, usually sooner rather than later. I bought an extra pot after the discontinuation so this is my last one. MAC do have similar colours, and I also have one Clinique Lots o’ Latte (bought when they started making them again)
The way I just ran to the Mac site after reading the word ‘discontinued’. 😭. I’m guessing it’s region specific? Groundwork is available in Canada and the US (for now). It’s one of their bestselling products. Perhaps there’s another country and/or city closer to you that you can have it shipped from?
Ooh that is good to know – thank you!. The sites I use all say discontinued, and it is no longer available in store, but I have just found it on another European site, Maybe they brought it back. I have just bought a spare! Our local stores seem to have Tailor Grey as an alternative
I have tried Bobbi Brown, MAC, Chanel and Charlotte Tilbury cream eyeshadow and I loved them at the beginning but I never got to finish one pot as they dried. I used them every day but I was never able to keep them more than 4 or 4 months. How long can you keep them?
It was very frustrating not to be able to use them entirely so I am back to using powder eyeshadow.
EU containers do have an ‘expiry date’ on them saying how long you can use after opening before discarding, but generally use them as long as they look and feel fresh. I had one MAC pot that dried out after a hot summer, but the one I have just finished was creamy to the end. I use it 5 days a week though, so maybe that kept the surface fresh. I can’t use powder shadows, even with primer, because my eyes water. I hate that because I love powder shadows.
I know about the expiry date but mine never last that long unfortunately.
I am so sorry. PS what is the Bobbi Brown cream shadow like, texture wise. Does it last all day on the eyelids?
