It’s a sad commentary on life today when you discover that a book called Your AI Survival Guide was stolen by Anthropic to train its chatbot. Anthropic agreed to pay $1.5 billion to settle a class-action suit by several authors who had the same happen to them.

I also remember the line from Frank Herbert’s Dune
Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them. The Dune universe banned advanced AI because of its threat to human agency.
and of course, assuming this is true, there is always that one person…


Perhaps I should revisit the Dune novels.
