A day

Firstly I would like to thank everyone who commented on my allergy problem. I am such a newbie that I did not realise you have to take the tablets for a while for the effect to build up. I will give that a try, and also try the other suggestion a couple of people recommended – Cetirizine – if the Allegra does not work. I may also go back to the Loratadin and try it for a week or two.

My symptoms are: fatigue (I feel like I am in a fog), headache, post-nasal drip, constantly streaming runny nose (leading to chapping around my nose), itchy eyes, sore eyes, much sneezing, sore throat and sinus pain. It happens both inside and outside, so it could be anything from pollen to pet dander (though we have two air purifiers). I do have another doctor’s trip soon so I will ask for an allergy test. One day it really bad and I ended up with a rash on my legs so I am not sure if that was related. I had no idea that allergies could be so debilitating…

I have been wearing this necklace a lot. It is a thrift store find and is made of gold-plated silver. Looking at the hallmarks, it is quite old

I found this at Lidl on our weekly stroll. We have two skinny cats and one fat one. Feeding is a real problem because our skinny one is very bony and needs to put on a little weight, but the fatty shouldn’t have constant access to food. Feeding them separately is a pain.

This automatic feeder is by Trixie (which is a pretty good brand pet-wise) and comes with an ice pack to keep wet food cold. You can set the timers separately, and the lid pops open when it is due. We did not buy it but this would be great to use with dry food. We could also set it for an evening feed if we are away late one evening. Our cats are fed 5am and 5pm.

I rather enjoy these collector’s editions. I have them for Metallica, Guns n Roses, David Bowie, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana. I have normally read the articles over the years, but having them together in printed format is nice.

This is not a great photo but here is the little whale knitted keyring. They are apparently sensorily calming and feel so soft and squishy. I was thinking of buying a larger one – maybe the Yoda – for a friend who needs a fidget item. This is a cheap bag I use over weekends. It is very light but holds quite a bit.  I am still not carrying any heavy bags, because of my back, so I have downsized my collection in a major way.

I read and enjoyed Peter May’s The Blackhouse. I am now halfway through the second one – The Lewis Man.  I enjoyed the setting and also the fact that I had to look up so many old and regional words. They were not essential to the story but I am always curious.

  1. Definitely, definitely talk to a doctor and have them explain everything to you. It’s not super easy at the beginning but afterwards, you will feel so much better once you have the right treatment for you. Regarding Cetirizin, the two doctors I spoke to (allergologist and ENT) were not super enthusiastic about it and I was not a fan of the side effects. Good luck!
