Motorbike rally around lake Mälaren, photographs by Daniel Brace

In August every year, as summer comes to an end, we undertake a motorbike rally around Lake Mälaren (the third-largest freshwater lake in Sweden).

It’s always great fun. There are up to 20 000 motorcyclists every year on all kinds of bikes. Big ones, small ones, old ones, new ones. There are dogs, kids, families and clubs. There are four main stops on the way with different events, and then the finish. You can start and stop wherever you like. The full route is about 300km.

In Södertälje, there is always an incredibly talented photographer – Daniel Brace – who captures the riders passing through.

Daniel has a real talent for faces, particularly eyes. I am always so happy to see him there snapping away. He took two beauties of us this past Saturday, and I even managed to exchange a few words with him before we were on our way again. You can find Daniel and his company, Braceiller Productions on Instagram and Facebook, among others. He is lovely to deal with so if you are in Sweden and need a photographer, drop him a message. I have used his photographs with permission.

Here are some of Daniel’s photographs from over the years. The first one perfectly depicts how every single biker is different but they all love the rally. Everyone is so nice and friendly and helpful if you need help (e.g. stuck in the mud!).

  1. Fantastic pics! Daniel did a great job. Loved them all, particularly the shots of you two, the Child Protector and the dogs, nuts over the dogs. Also really loved the sixth one down from the top, the closeup where they’re lined up in two long rows. That really grabbed me. They’re all excellent photos.

Neither of us own a bike although my husband used to, but we are biker aficionados in this family, particularly devoted to P.G.A. Patriot Guard and B.A.C.A., each of those strong locally. Biker groups grab attention and quickly raise awareness for worthy causes when others have failed, and they’re doing it all over the world. Women bikers in India have exploded since around 2011 and haven’t shown signs of slowing down. God bless the bikers!

  2. I love all these pictures! Apart from the two pictures of you, I absolutely adore the picture of the Drivers Against Child Abuse rider. I had heard that there were some bikers who were doing this and I’m glad it’s not just in the US!
