Another Fail from the Daily Mail – these are journalists?

When I trained as a journalist there were subeditors and fact-checkers who would never have let these horrors slip through. Many of the journalists I worked with during my days as a subeditor were fantastic at telling stories, but not good at grammar or spelling. These days there are no subeditor and it seems anyone can be a journalist, so you see more and more of the above – even in ‘good’ publications.

  1. My ex-wife used to scroot (not sure of the spelling but the long form is scrutiniser) who used to check stories after they had been fact checked. Nowadays there are no scroots because spell checker is used but that will not differentiate between there and their, to, two and too since all are correct spellings.
