Funny how life is…

We had been looking for a shelf for our bathroom for ages. We went into every single shop that could possibly have a shelf for us. No luck. The shelf had to be narrow – 40cm wide – in order to fit on the wall above our washing machine. Every single shelf we found was too wide. We even scoured second hand shops. No luck. We spent a whole day recently hunting for this elusive shelf.

A few days ago, I went to a local gift shop to buy a pill box I had been eyeing for ages (more about that later). While I was waiting to pay, I spotted a flea market outside that I had not noticed before. I went to have a look at the jewellery on one of the tables, and almost tripped over a box. When I looked down, the box contained a brand new 40cm wide white metal shelving unit from our favourite furniture shop. A discontinued model. I snapped it up at less than a third of the new price.

And now it is on our wall!  It’s strange how things worked out!

This is what the model looked like when it was still in production. It was called Mio Elton and was a flexible system that you could build in different constellations. It is very sturdy so we got a bargain!
