I really like the Leather Quill Shoppe, run by the husband and wife team of Mandy and Brett.
Mandy is lovely to deal with, and I particularly like that they use firmer, thick, leather because I am not a fan of floppy leather. To be honest, I don’t even really like it when stiff covers go very soft the more you use them. They also have a super Turquoise Trail that is so very New Mexico. Isn’t it gorgeous? Mandy has done a blog post on these turquoise beauties
My favourite of their products is the Garrett, which is an original design and is named after a New Mexico lawman. I have previously written about my Garrett notebooks.
If you look at all the Garretts below you can see that the leather strip on the cover – in most cases – matches or mirrors the shape of the edge of the trifold cover. I really like this.
These are gorgeous – beautifully made, rugged and very unusual.
If you like Garretts, keep checking the site or the Facebook page regularly, because they are not always available. I think that, to date, there have only been 17 of them made.
