Well it is still permanent twilight here in Sweden but from today the days get longer, a minute at a time! So even though the photos are a bit dull at the moment, they will hopefully be in more sunshine in about a month, and show the binder getting nice and caramelly in the sun a couple of months after that.
The binder is probably at the same level as the last time as regards marks and scuffs BUT 1) I now have a pen mark on it – I was wondering when that was going to happen. With any leather notebook, bag or planner it is inevitable. 2) despite the lack of light, the leather is going darker due to oxidation.
I have also showed my setup for 2015 in this post. As you can see I don’t decorate. This is a tool and a workhorse and once I have finished with a page I throw it away. I do have some sentimental items in here though like my flyleaves and paperclips, given to me by friends.
I also do not baby any of my binders. They go in my bag like everything else and not in a pouch or sleeper. I don’t apply any conditioning treatment to any of my leather items but this one I will be applying some leather conditioner to the reverse of the strap in a few weeks time, for educational purposes.
The same scuffs and marks – not getting worse or better, and (to me anyway), not affecting the beauty of the binder. One teeny pen mark.
Here you can see the binder is going darker than the sample (which is kept in a drawer, sealed and dark)The rings are still causing the greatest marks on the binder. I don’t mind though as I really use this part. I use this organizer as my wallet and planner so I open this section up to twenty times a dayOn the inside of the front and back covers are all my most used cards. Supermarket loyalty cards, credit cards and vouchers go in the inside front cover. Under that secretarial flap is kept all my paper money. In the zippered flyleaf go coins, keys, vouchers and supermarket trolley tokens.Under the flyleaf goes my laminated flyleaf by Courtney Diaz. It used to be more visible when I used binders without flyleaves but now I am so attached to it that I have to have it with me even though it is not as immediately visible. This clear flyleaf comes from a Filofax Doodle. It has an extra pen loop and a pocket, where I keep my driver’s licence. Behind that is a frontispiece by Maryanne Moll of Paper Love ForeverFor my bookings I always use a vertical week on two pages by burde. It is vital that I can see my booking workload at a glance and you cannot see this with a regular week on two page layout. Instead of dividers (which take up too much space) I use clear plastic rulers to divide sections. I use four in each binder – calendar, calendar, to do list and back section. This is a Filofax Week on Two Pages – this holds my daily to dos, birthdays, reminders. Anything that is not a time-bound booking. I throw these pages out when I am finished with them. I also usually only have one month ahead in a binder at a time but due to the big rings in this beauty, now I have an entire year in my binder all at once and I have written birthdays, holidays, deadlines etc all in advance! To Do lists. These are by A-förlaget and I like them because the paper is thin and they have narrow lines. I scribble notes whenever I think of them and every now and then I rewrite the once I have not yet completed in one neat list. Once I have completed a list, I throw the page away. Two fold-out world maps. I use these when briefing students for trips abroad.Three plastic envelopes. Holding movie tickets, door codes, addresses, urls, notes and a bug bookmark given to me by Ashley A.Clear plastic credit card sheets holding extra loyalty cards, medical card, spare sim for my phone, stamp card for a restaurant.More loyalty cards on inside back cover as well as my travel card and pass cards to various workplaces. In the loop is a Cross pen given me by Nati. Under the credit card pockets are receipts, guarantees, invitations and vouchers.Top view showing gusseted pocket, flyleaf, ring protectors, big rings and HOW MUCH IT HOLDS!!!
Janet, I love your smart settings! Inspiring!
