Van Der Spek Day: The Touch Me Series

The Touch Me range is amazing. I had never seen one in real life before but I gravitated to it immediately. It is very light but hardwearing because it is made from buffalo leather. They are glorious! Only available in black and brown, it has a gussetted pocket (not many binders have these even though they make it so much easier to get into a pocket) and the long full length back pocket that everyone loves. The standard size is perfect for use as a wallet and the 25mm  rings in the A5 and standard can be exchanged for 30 and 35 respectively. The newer binders have been made wider to accommodate larger rings.

The leather has very wide variations in grain – it can go from very smooth to very grainy and anything in between. So when ordering, make sure you specify which one you prefer. I like grainy as it is more hardwearing and less likely to show scuffs. So both the Touch Mes I bought are very grainy.

While photographing the Touch Mes for this post I found a beautiful A5 (pictures) with the most amazing heavy coarse grain and I just had to have it. Petra suggested I wait for the newer oners which have been made wider to better accomodate bigger rings, but this grain was so lovely, and it makes such a difference feeling something in your hand as opposed to a photo. So I pounced. I also bought a standard (personal sized) Touch Me in brown. It had been kept to one side because of a small mark on the inside front cover but I don’t mind things like that so I jumped at the chance. There was another one there with smoother grain so I photographed the two together so you can see the difference.

Here you can see the black Touch Me in all sizes (we chose black for these photographs) because the browns are sold out in several of the sizes), as well as accessories to match – different sized pencil cases AND a zipped pouch which could be used as a makeup bag or a pencil case. These are all individual so you can choose smooth or pebbly.

The zipped pencil case is only available in limited numbers though and they will not be getting any more so if you like one, I would recommend getting one sooner rather than later. The brown ones are lovely.

Also in the Touch Me range is this wallet and bound agenda case which is nice for if you do not like ringed binders/wallets in one.
