Mythology and history have always interested me (most things do) and I constantly find myself drawing inspiration from them.
This journal was a mixture of myth and history. The cover art depicts a stylized robed and hooded Sibyl, conduit for the gods, keeper of prophecy. In her hands she holds the bowl and the laurel branch, the iconic accessories of the Oracle.
I hand-dyed the leather to lend it a mottled, stormy look. It seemed appropriate, since a Sibyl’s prophecies tapped into the Otherworld, and were usually dangerous to play with. The edges are hand-sewn in frosted silvery thread, and the inside lining is a gorgeous tobacco brown sueded leather.
